I live in northern California, near Stanford University, which is where I work.
I started bringing bentos to work about a year and a half ago. I was drawn to the money-saving aspect, but I was mostly interested in packing healthy, tasty, well-balanced, vegetarian meals for myself.
After being a devout vegetarian for fifteen years, I have recently begun eating some fish again. Still, over 95% of my lunches are completely vegetarian, and a good number of them are vegan.
What else ... Acting, singing and dancing were once my career, but now they are my passionate hobbies outside of work. I ride my bike to and from work every day. I love houseplants and I sleep with an elephant named Eddie.
I've identified a couple of the other vegetarians in the forum - anyone else out there?

Stands in veggie corner. No meat, fish or poultry, but I do have free range, organic eggs.
Veggie here as well, though wish I had 10yrs under my belt. :( I do have milk products and eggs, but am working on fresh local eggs from grandma's farm and local milk produced in the area. Might I just say that raw milk is wonderful if you have ever had that!
I've been a veg for about 15 years too, with a few bouts of *eating fish* periods (like now). I even tried going vegan once, but only made it four days before I gave up. SO much work! I have boatloads of respect for successful vegans!:)
Oh I forgot to mention I've been veggie for 25 years.....Oh, I feel old!
Thanks to everyone for replying!
As for me, yes, there's occasional fish and cheese. I can't stand milk. I can barely tolerate it in tea. And I somewhat (though not enough to change) regret that I've lifted the restrictions on eggs, but I do aim for a happier hen when I can afford it.
We are in the same neighborhood, the hubs works at Stanford as well! I have been a vegetarian ( for a good portion of my life [on and off since since middle school, but mostly on, so about 10 years]. Within the last year I cut out milk products, which makes me feel so much better. I have never really liked milk so it was not that big of a loss.
Cool! I won't be nosy by asking where. ^_^
This is such a great place to live. We have the world at our fingertips! And Daiso right down the street!
Well it's not a secret, he works in Alumni/Post-Grads off campus :)
Unfortunately, we do not live all that close to either of our jobs. We live in the East Bay and I commute to SF. We will probably be moving to the Peninsula this summer, to buy a place. But both of us really like the Bay Area, we both grew up here and would like to stay put until retirement.
