I was thinking of making a healthier type of pita using sushi nori. The problem isn't the taste, but the smell is Really Bad. Any ideas on how to dilute the seaweed smell?

Um...if you don't like the smell of nori, maybe it's not the best choice of ingredient to be using? ^_^;

Re: Sushi Nori

I've never found a way to make it smell differently, though leaving it out of the package to air helps a bit. Maybe substitute another leafy green vegetable such as lettuce? You could still put some nori on the inside where the smell would be contained by other ingredients.

Re: Sushi Nori

I know this may seem weird but my aunt bought some sushi for a family dinner a while back that was wrapped in spring roll wrappers (the semi translucent rice based ones that do not need to be cooked) and it was not horrible. I personally kind of like the "fishy" flavor of seaweed, but my husband ate and liked them because they lacked that "fishy" quality most sushi has.
