I'm on the road and a bit behind

Hi everyone. I've been offline for 2 days, with good reason though - I've finally moved out and am now officially homeless! Thursday was moving day, where we put most of our worldly possessions in storage. (And the moved was supposed to only take about 3 hours, and ended up taking all day). Today we drove for 8+ hours and are now somewhere in France. I couldn't get online Thursday (well actually I could have but just dropped down dead as soon as we got to the hotel) and well, here I am online finally at 1:30 AM on Sat. So, any pending questions and stuff...I'll try to get to tomorrow. Thanks for your patience!

Re: I'm on the road and a bit behind

My first and favourite meal in France is cold roasted chicken with that greenish mayo washed down with a cold beer.
Have a good rest, you deserve it , after all that driving!!!

Wishing you the best in your search for a new home! Somewhere in France seems a lovely place to be in the meantime :-)

(Oh, somebody else who is in Vancouver, as I am).

Maki, welcome in France (I'm curious about where you are and why you moved ;)) ! If you have any question, don't hesitate to ask me; wanted to be sure you know that.

What is this "greenish mayo" ? I'm French, and our mayo is yellowish (despite the American one is whiter)... a little bit interrogative.

Good luck for your home hunt (are you searching for a rental or something to buy ?)

Re: I'm on the road and a bit behind

I have not moved anywhere yet. We are considering many options, and this Tour de France is just one part of that.

When extra virgin olive oil is used the mayonnaise can be a bit greenish, not saying all the mayonnaise in France is that way...but i've had some pretty strong olive-oil flavor mayonnaise esp. in the Provence

Thanks for your offer to help! If I have questions I will be sure to ask :)

Hum... Maki's right about the mayonaise, my mum use a greenish virgin olive oil to make it, and it can show in the mayonaise.
The other kind of mayonaise that can be green is the one with parsley in it I think, but otherwise I don't see what it can be ^^p

Anyway, good luck with you search Maki !

Wish you good luck too! And hope you have better weather than we at the moment. It is getting warmer, spring is coming! But the sky is grey and it is raining from time to time........ Not the weather you want for driving far or traveling in general.

Re: I'm on the road and a bit behind

Thank you all for your well wishes! The weather is great - sunny, around 15 degrees C. We are here for 2 weeks (rented a gite) so I have a kitchen - will try to put together some bentos, or at least some onigiri! (I brought my rice cooker ^_^;)
