Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

CasaBento is one of the biggest online bento box and accessory sellers. They have a diverse selection of bento boxes, in all kinds of styles from cute-kawaii to sophisticated and traditional. They also carry other useful products for bento makers, such as 220V Zojirushi rice cookers - very hard to get a hold of in most of Europe, unless you live near a Japanese store. (Another bonus for European bento fans: they promise 2-3 day shipping here! For other regions of the world it’s 4-8 days, which is still pretty fast.)

CasaBento ships worldwide, and includes prepaid custom fees in their shipping charges (with the exception of the rice cookers), so you don’t have to worry about paying more before you get your hands on your bento goodies.

And this is the giveaway item that CasaBento is offering to JustBento readers - a Tokyo Japan Bento Box Set, with everything you need to get started with your bento-making!

This set includes a colorful plastic two-tier bento box with a clear top lid, under which the matching chopsticks and spoon (both included of course) slot in nicely. There’s also a cute matching color bento belt, and a drawstring carrying bag. The total capacity of the two tiered box is 580ml, which is a great size for adults with small to average appetites or older kids.

The Tokyo Japan Bento Box Set is available in eight colors, and the winner gets to choose a set in the color of his or her choice. The colors kind of remind me of those candy-colored 2nd generation iMacs!

How to enter the CasaBento giveaway

Update: This giveaway is now closed. Thanks everyone for partcipating! The winner will be announced later this week.

This giveaway is open to everyone, worldwide - or at least, anywhere that CasaBento can ship! (If in doubt, please ask them first. I’m not sure they ship to Antarctica, for example.)

To enter, just leave a comment to this post. The question to answer for this giveaway is - If you could choose to go to just one city that you’ve never been to, where would that be, and why? (OK it’s not quite bento related, but I’m running out of ideas ^_^;)

Be sure to include a valid email address where you can be contacted in the appropriate text box! Your comment must be posted by 23:59:59 EDT (U.S. East Coast Time) (or just before midnight) of Sunday, August 22th 2010. One lucky entry will be drawn at random to receive the Tokyo Japan Bento box. Good luck!

This is Giveaway No. 3 of Back To School Week. Stay tuned for more throughout the week!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

If I could go to any city that I've never been to, I would definitely go to Tokyo. I think it would be so cool to see all the modern buildings and old traditions intermixed.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I hate to say Tokyo, because that's what everyone else is saying, but "If you could choose to go to just one city" makes it sound like I'd never be able to go to another city I hadn't been to already again, so I'm going to have to stock up on bento accessories! :P

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Probably Moscow or the town where my grandfather was born in Scotland. If I could return to any city it would be Kamakura in Japan or Hanoi in Vietnam.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd like to go to London and eat real scones with clotted cream! :)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Hi,

I really love your website, but since I stay in India, its a little difficult to find a few of the ingredients that you mention. But your posts make for a mouthwatering read. I would really like to enter this contest and the city that I would like to visit is in Austria.

Somehow, THE SOUND OF MUSIC was a huge influence in my life and I really loved the pretty locales shown in the film. Hopefully, one day I will be able to afford a trip to the city of Salzburg, Autria. Till then I can still dream

I would like to go to Mars (if it is counted as a city. LOL) as not all of us has a chance to go there. And, if I were given a chance to, why not? I would like to meet the residents there and see if they enjoy making or eating bento=)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would love to visit the city were each of my parents were born. My mother tells me about her life growing up and what life was like for her when she was my age (19), and I love hearing those stories. I can't explain it well, but it would just be special for me to visit their birthplaces, since we now live so far away.

I've never been someone who's too interested in travel. I suppose it's always been too out of my reach financially but perhaps I should change my thinking!! And I'm thinking Suva. It's a city in Fiji and I pick Fiji b/c of so many reasons I suppose It's one of those places that after visiting you feel like your complete.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

If I could go to any one city that I haven't been to before it would be Benevento, Italy where my grandfather was from. It would be amazing to see into my heritage from this small, Southern Italian town.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Hi, Maki -

I'm so happy to read that you are feeling better and back in action!

I choose Mexico City!

This is a tough question for me. I grew up in a career military family, by virtue of which, I was a world traveler by the time I could walk. For the entire decade of my twenties, I fronted my own rock band, which toured extensively. I've lived in and visited a plethora of world cities in my time, including Hiroshima, where I was first introduced to the beauty of bento, and of Japanese cuisine in general.

Even after visiting every state in the Union more than once, and living in both Texas and California, I have somehow managed to go this long without crossing our southern border, and I feel shamed by it. I've been fascinated by Mexican culture for years, and have noted, in recent years, some of the freshest art, food and music emanates from Mexico City. I want to taste authentic tacos al carbon at the street stands. I want to see the Diego Rivera murals and trace Frida Kahlo's footsteps at the Preparatoria. I want to savor the taste of roasted corn, catch a luchadore match and sample the nightlife. I want to feel what it's like to be at the epicenter of a cauldron of cultures, struggling to cultivate its status as a relevant, important economic power in the twenty-first century, while still preserving its heritage, and dealing with the overpopulation and poverty that has so long plagued a beautiful, multi-faceted and culturally rich country.

Arigato gozaimasu!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I've wanted to see Paris for as long as I can remember. I hope I get to go some day.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I really want to visit Seoul, SK because it's where my mom grew up. I was born in the US though, and I've never been to korea before~

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would definitely go to Stockholm, Sweden. So artsy but not as touristy!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Istanbul, Turkey. I love places with a lot of people and a lot of history.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

i would go to tsukuba in japan. why? a very close friend lived there for years, and then travel from there back up and down japan off the beaten track. plus, i'm a scientist.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would have to say Tokyo first because I want to go to the Studio Ghibli Museum. After that it would be just to tour as much of Japan as I could.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would love to go Seoul. Because I have always been interested in Korean culture. I would go to the Gyeongbokgung palace, and Deoksugung. Those two bulidings have such a great history attached to them. And of I would also visit the Myeongdong Shopping District there too. :)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Hmmmm. St. Petersburg!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Hm... it would depend on the time of year. In the spring, I'd definitely go to Japan for the cherry blossoms! I might pick Tokyo because it's so big and diverse, but it's also really "city" and I'm not sure if it would showcase the beauty of the countryside. Maybe I would go for Kyoto instead? For the summer, I'd probably go to Cairo, in Egypt. Fall, Venice or Florence - I really like Italian history, it's kind of a hobby of mine. :3 Winter, it's time to hit up Seville or Buenos Aires - Spanish is my second language (Japanese is third, but that's still in the works.) That, and it's warm.

If I really had to pick one, I'd say... Kyoto! It's the farthest away from my home base, and I really like to sightsee. ^w^

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Moscow!
No...Beijing!
No...Prague. Yes, definitely Prague.
Everytime I have seen pictures - whether it's old Prague, or soviet era prague, or more recently, I have been gobsmacked and flabbergasted by the grace and beauty. Forget Paris as the city of love, I want to go and fall in love in Prague!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Seoul because I am addicted to Korean dramas!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd like to go to Seoul (now, anyways! haha)
I would go for the fashion scene there, for the many historical places, to attend concerts, to visit friends- to do just about anything; from singing in a noraebang to watching the local tv (which is very interesting).
Then, I'd have to visit Japan~ ^^

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

hmmmmmm...... PARIS! i've been all over asia but never to europe and though sterotypical i feel like it could be the jewel of europe and i've taken french. that or maybe prague. somewhere in europe!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would go to Dublin, Ireland (and hopefully be able to branch out from there). I'm part Irish and I've always wanted to visit. When I was younger I loved to read Irish mythology and it would be fun to visit all of the places I read about. Plus there's always all that talk about how rainy it is; I'd have to compare it to my own rainy area of the Pacific Northwest. :)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would choose to go to Singapore because I think I would appreciate the capitalism and the hawker culture looks interesting.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Another vote for Tokyo - I've always wanted to visit Japan!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

If I could visit any one city I've never been to? At first I thought Sealand, but it's a micronation, not a city. So I chose, Port Au Prince, Haiti. I'm part Haitian, and have ancestors and relatives who lived there. It has a natural beauty and a unique culture, according to my mom, uncles, and grandparents. Unfortunately, I don't speak French (yet).

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

It might sound strange, but I really want to go to Kizhi Island in Russia. Ever since watching a clip about it on a TV program called Adventures in Architecture, I've been touched by how pure life and religion is there, even though I'm not religious. Most of all, the churches fascinate me! And yes- I would go there during winter!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Shanghai, always wanted to go!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Ok, first off, not fair that I can only pick one city! :)
I would go to Tuscany, because it looks like an absolutely beautiful place!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Neuchâtel. A friend went there for exchange and I've wanted to visit ever since.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd love to visit Tokyo! I <3 Japan!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would love to go to London, England because it's one of the Fashion capitals of the world and FABULOUS (also brit accents are hot)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Glenrothes, Scotland. I'd love to visit because firstly I'd like to go back to Europe, and secondly a girl I worked with this summer lives there, and I'd love to see all the places she described.
