Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

CasaBento is one of the biggest online bento box and accessory sellers. They have a diverse selection of bento boxes, in all kinds of styles from cute-kawaii to sophisticated and traditional. They also carry other useful products for bento makers, such as 220V Zojirushi rice cookers - very hard to get a hold of in most of Europe, unless you live near a Japanese store. (Another bonus for European bento fans: they promise 2-3 day shipping here! For other regions of the world it’s 4-8 days, which is still pretty fast.)

CasaBento ships worldwide, and includes prepaid custom fees in their shipping charges (with the exception of the rice cookers), so you don’t have to worry about paying more before you get your hands on your bento goodies.

And this is the giveaway item that CasaBento is offering to JustBento readers - a Tokyo Japan Bento Box Set, with everything you need to get started with your bento-making!

This set includes a colorful plastic two-tier bento box with a clear top lid, under which the matching chopsticks and spoon (both included of course) slot in nicely. There’s also a cute matching color bento belt, and a drawstring carrying bag. The total capacity of the two tiered box is 580ml, which is a great size for adults with small to average appetites or older kids.

The Tokyo Japan Bento Box Set is available in eight colors, and the winner gets to choose a set in the color of his or her choice. The colors kind of remind me of those candy-colored 2nd generation iMacs!

How to enter the CasaBento giveaway

Update: This giveaway is now closed. Thanks everyone for partcipating! The winner will be announced later this week.

This giveaway is open to everyone, worldwide - or at least, anywhere that CasaBento can ship! (If in doubt, please ask them first. I’m not sure they ship to Antarctica, for example.)

To enter, just leave a comment to this post. The question to answer for this giveaway is - If you could choose to go to just one city that you’ve never been to, where would that be, and why? (OK it’s not quite bento related, but I’m running out of ideas ^_^;)

Be sure to include a valid email address where you can be contacted in the appropriate text box! Your comment must be posted by 23:59:59 EDT (U.S. East Coast Time) (or just before midnight) of Sunday, August 22th 2010. One lucky entry will be drawn at random to receive the Tokyo Japan Bento box. Good luck!

This is Giveaway No. 3 of Back To School Week. Stay tuned for more throughout the week!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would go to Santorini!!! I've never been to the Mediterranean, so if I have to pick one place that is where I would go. =)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

The one that's really been nagging me lately is Istanbul. I love experiencing different cultures, and love history, and there's a lot of both there - not all of it charming, to be sure, but I also love adventure.
What would a Turkish Bento include?

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd love to go to Chiba (Japan) because a friend of mine was there at a
Student exchange and said it was so great there! :D

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd want to go to Tokyo. Mostly just for the clothes associated with Harajuku. I really like the lolita and visual kei and decora type of styles. I think it would be amazing to just be able to walk around and go into stores selling these things. And hmm... maybe I'd get to see one of my favorite J-rockers?

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Less of a city than a whole state (Okay, Honolulu if pushed) I would love to go to Hawaii! Ever since I started packing bentos, I've realised how rich the foodie culture is in Hawaii - with inventive (and super bento friendly!) food like the loco moco, lau lau and SPAM musubis. It is the perfect fusion between Eastern ( Japanese, Korean, Philippino, Chinese) and the Western, producing imaginative flavours that is out of this world.

Yumms....

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would want to visit South Africa, I suppose Cape Town, and go diving with sharks. Sounds nuts, but I do plan on going someday.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Since I am a dollfie collector I'd love to go to Kyoto in May, to attend the Dolpa event, the Japanese convention for the Volks dolls collectors. *^v^*

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd like to go to Brussels. I am fortunate in that I've already been to a lot of cities that I've been dying to go to, but I've never yet been to Belgium!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Only one? Aww, that's so difficult to choose!

I would go to New Orleans! It has to be a very exciting city, with its mixture of Spanish/French/Southern/Cajun culture. (And I admit that a friend living close by would a great plus.)

The bento set is so beautiful! I hope I get lucky =).

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would love to go to London. I've always wanted to visit England and London is definitely on the top of the list of places in England I would want to go. It just seems like such a fun city with a really diverse spectrum of people and places.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I want to visit Petra and spend time wandering the ruins and writing.

(I would have said Tokyo, but I have been there. For three hours only. :( )

Also, I love pink!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would love to go to Tokyo! Never been there, and exploring the city would make for an awesome honeymoon. In fact I've never been out of the US or traveled farther than the east coast of the US, so anywhere, honestly, would make me happy :)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would love to see Tokyo or London!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Kyoto! I have always wanted to go there and I will be going in a couple of months. I absolutely cannot wait. I read everything I can about it.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Definitely Paris, France--I've never had the money to go travelling out of the country, and Paris has been one of those cities that I'd love to see at some point in my life. Plus I have enough French language under my belt to somewhat communicate with the locals.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Would've said Tokyo, but I've already been there, so: Barcelona.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Any city in Japan really, I've always wanted to visit Japan to take in the culture.

Wah, so much for lurking

If it is one place I’d like to pick Zürich: it’s rich in history, and see what food is available both ‘out’ (eating out) and ‘in’ (and possibly see what would lead an expat to recreate the flavours of home and then write prolifically about it ;))

I’ve found it interesting comparing Sydney to London - I’ve learned to appreciate close access to south-east asian groceries here (outside London)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would go to Paris. I want to see the Moulin Rouge and the Eiffel Tower so very badly.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd like to go to Anchorage, Alaska. It's big enough to have comfortable amenities and a decent cost to get there, and I have always wanted to see the aurora.

I've had a recurring dream since I was a very small child of standing in the snow, basking in the solar wind and the frozen earth. I wanted to see the sky burn. As I grew up and was taught the science, so I understood what was happening better, I wanted to marvel at the immensity of the planet and the unimaginable strength of the natural forces that surround us, invisibly.

That came out somewhat sappier than I meant it to, sorry. ^_^ I watch clouds too. That's the most complex fluid mechanics problem ever written.

One City

Today Barcelona is beating Tokyo, Beijing, Kathmandu, Mumbai, Tananarive, Nairobi, Kigali, Budapest, Paris, St. Petersburg, Riga, Reykjavik, Rio de Janeiro, Lima, and Washington DC because, I think, I'm hungry for something and I'm not sure what, and the world capital for tapas seems Just Right.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would go to Paris! I have tried to go three times now but something has happened to stop me each time. This just makes me even more determined to get there. I want to see the bridges, the buildings, the art, and try the food. I want to eat at an outdoor cafe and people watch. I have no idea where this desire comes from but I have wanted to go since junior high. I will get there eventually!!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would love to go to Rome or Stockholm, I have never been to Europe, I know it would be amazing! I recently have been slightly obsessed with Sweden after reading "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would want to visit Tokyo. I have always been fascinated by Japanese culture in general. Not to mention I am a huge nerd and Tokyo is a hub of technology. Also I am a gamer and I would love to be able to view all the different types of games available in another country.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Athens! Really, talk about ancient history! Beautiful, picturesque, plus, Greek cuisine is something I don't know much about, but would really love to explore... I like what I've been exposed to so far :)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd love to visit Shanghai, it seems so exotic and beautiful.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd like to visit Heidelberg, Germany. My boyfriend lived there as a kid, and he's always telling me about places he went and things he did, and I want to see.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Christchurch New Zealand - it looks like an amazing place

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Beijing; I'm a Sinologist who has never visited China! :O

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

If I could go anywhere it would be back in time to see the The Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon are considered to be one of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. They were built in the ancient city-state of Babylon, near present-day Al Hillah, Babil, in Iraq.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would visit Istanbul. Because it's full of history -and great food (I've heard)!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would like to visit yokohama in japan - to visit japan and also visit the head dojo for the martial arts style I am studying.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would really love to go to Montmarte, France. There's so many museums and historical import applied to it, I would love to be right in the middle of the 19th century's bohemian culture epicenter.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would like to go to Tokyo. The lights...the hand made noodles....

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I want to go to Montreal because I've heard wonderful things about the food!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Not surprisingly, my trips are generally decided by what food would be available. Currently I've got my heart set on going to Penang, Malaysia - I've had friends go and just rave about the food, especially the street stalls that seem to just churn out awesomeness.

That, and I'd love to go and see some of the great markets - London Borough, souks in Syria/Lebanon/Morocco etc.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I could choose Tokyo, but I love and adore Kyoto so much I'm decently sure I wouldn't like Tokyo. At least, not as much as I love Kyoto. Big, huge cities make me more uncomfortable than awestruck.

Naha, Okinawa, however, is a definite possibility. Somewhere new and exciting, but still steeped in Japanese culture. Yeah, I'll go for Naha. :)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I've never had a strong desire to travel, maybe that is something that will hit me when I get older? I love road tripping though.
A place that I one time craved to go check out was Chicago. To explore the birthplace of my all time favorite band. They had a huge impact on me.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd love to go to Wellington, if only as a sort of "base" to launch expeditions all around New Zealand. Just so much nature to see over there!!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would go to paris france because of the rich culture, great food and extensive shopping!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd choose to go to Kyoto. I've been studying Japanese for a little while, and feel like I'd be able to communicate well enough to not be totally unable to get around (like I was the first week and a half I was in China). And I've never been to Japan before.

If I had a chance to return to a city I've been to before, I'd definitely choose Valparaiso, Chile. That city is amazing and the food was to die for! :)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

It's the super popular choice, given that it's on a bento site, but the truth is that I really, really, really want to go to Tokyo. It's not that I don't want to see other places in Japan (like Sendai or Nagasaki for instance), it's just that I really want to know what Tokyo feels like. I've seen pictures and read things about it, but there's something different about actually being the middle of the city, and seeing things from the ground level. I would also love to be in a place where I'd really be forced to use any and all Japanese I could remember. I think it'd really be wonderful! =D

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I really want to go to Copenhagen because it is the best bike city in the world!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would go to Prague. Heard so many great things about it and have a friend living there.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would love to go to India, probably starting with Mumbai, but there are so many interesting cities to choose. I love to travel to places that are VERY DIFFERENT from my home in the USA (so Japan is high on my list, too, but not as original in this thread!). The sights, sounds and smells of India would be wonderful to experience firsthand.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd sometime like to visit Kenya. I have extended family there and it would be nice to visit.
