Very cute story! Ironically, The Guy (who is Swiss and didn't even have rice at all growing up) puts far more time washing rice than I do. He swears that a long and careful washing makes a big difference in flavor. So, nowadays I have assigned him the job of Official Rice Washer ^_^
The Big Onigiri.
