I'd just like suggestions.
I was thinking about making Noriben, simple and good, and maybe some stir-fry.
But I'm not sure.

I think the best thing to do is to start with simple recipes you know and add new things when you feel more comfortable :)
You can try some pasta salad or some rice, some veggies and a meat... Like... rice/broccoli/carrots/hamburguers? I think that's the easiest bento you can make :)

mmm. make some sesame chicken and maybe some fried rice and for veggies and fruit some steamed broocolii and orange juice carrots! yumm..... ^,^ this was my first bento!

I just made my first "official" bento today. I did spiced chickpeas, mashed potatoes, and a wonderful cauliflower salad. The chickpeas and the cauliflower salad were both recipes submitted by people on this site, thought not Maki. Check them out in the custom search!

Here is a picture of the first bento I ever made! The onigiri has mayo-tuna filling :)
The little brown guys with the koalas are carob-coated almonds - they are better than chocolate!
