ok so I bought this bulldog yakisoba sauce bottle and I just noticed on it there is a date of 2004.01.21!
I cant read the kanji and I do not know if it means expiration or sell by date...
any thoughts?

Well it's pretty old...on the other hand, if it's been unopened you could probably still use it, and not get sick or anything... Bulldog sauce is pretty sturdy stuff.

thank you for the quick response. I made some yakisoba and although I could have used a lot more cabbage it came out wonderfully! Almost tastes like what my host mother used to make =P
A question: do people make yakisoba sauce or do they always buy premade sauces like bulldog brand? I would imagine it might be difficult to create on your own....
Most people do just use a premade sauce, but it is possible to make it on your own. Let me put that on my to-do list :)
that would be wonderful. I wonder if it tastes that much better than the premade stuff....
