Anyone in the USA have a Lychee Tree store near you?

We have one in my town and it's great for bentos and supplies. It's a dollar type store, well 1.50 anyway, and up. I got some putifresh bento boxes for about $2. each!

Re: Lychee Tree Stores

Never heard of them, what part of the country are you in?
Or even what country are you in? I forget that we are an international forum - my bad...

Around San Francisco we have Daiso ($1.50 store) and Ichibankan. I think Ichibankan has more variety as far as bento, but Daiso is a really fun store to explore and buy lots of stuff for a little $$

Hi Jo,

Maybe it's a small world after all! lol. I live in the south bay near Sunnyvale and Cupertino. Maybe they don't have these kinds of stores in other parts of the US, idk. I've heard of Ichikaban, but not Daiso. I'll have to check them out next time I go north. ^_^

I'm jealous too! Haven't found a store like that in Berlin by now. Still searching. If anyone do know one tell me!

Re: Lychee Tree Stores

I wish we had those stores in the UK. I have to get my dad to buy stuff from the Japan Centre when he's in London, and if I were to buy anything they don't have (and their food/bento box range isn't huge) I would have to import it from America or Japan.

Oh for goodness' sake, I'm in Mountain View.

There's a Daiso in Mountain View, off of El Camino in the San Antonio Shopping Center. It's near the Wal-Mart and shares a parking lot with the Trader Joe's.

Re: Lychee Tree Stores

That's so cool! I know where that is, I'll have to take a drive over there sometime and check it out.
If you'd like to check out Lychee Tree, it's 1139 S. De Anza Blvd. in Cupertino. From Mountain View probably the easiest is to take hwy 85 south and get off at De Anza Blvd. exit. Go left at the exit light onto De Anza and at the next light you'll see Mcdonald's on the right and Maxim Market on the left. It's in the same shopping center as Maxim's, but on the far north side closer to the street, and facing De Anza blvd., between the bank and the pet supply store. It's not big, but it's packed tight with all kinds of cool and interesting stuff!

BTW, Maxim is an Asian grocery store and has excellent produce as well as all kinds of goodies and the prices are great!

Sorry to all you guys who don't have Japanese 1.50 stores, if you ever get to California on vacation or business check them out. I think there are probably a lot in southern cali too.

Re: Lychee Tree Stores

Thanks! I usually bike everywhere, but maybe I can enlist one of my nipponphile friends to go with me (*cough* drive).

Re: Lychee Tree Stores

In addition to Ichiban Kan (which I haven't been to yet!), there is a Daiso in Daly City by the Target.

Although there aren't Bento supplies (although a small amount of cooking supplies), I just found the Manila Oriental Market a mile away from my apartment on Mission. I think it's technically excelsior. They had a relatively large variety of asian groceries similar to Super 88's on the east coast.

Nothing comes close to my dear sweet Kan man market in Quincy, MA. Its like walking into an walmart style (and size) Asian food and home goods store. Sigh.
