I am feeling very stupid, but I just bought a bottle of kikkoman soy sauce in a dispenser (which has a very nice design) and I cannot understand how to open it! Does anyone know how to do it?

Re: kikkoman soy sauce in a dispenser

From memory:

Unscrew the red pouring 'cover' and then remove the plastic cap (which can be discarded/recycled or saved for when you next need to transport the bottle.)

The internal plastic cap is the bit I'm not sure if I've remembered correctly. I've been refilling my small dispensing bottle for years - I honestly can't recall the last time I bought 'normal' soya sauce/shoyu from anything other than 1 litre bottles.

I made it, thank you! The red plasctic cap was hard to unscrew and I was afraid of breaking something and pouring soy sauce all over the place :-))

I was wondering the same thing about the plastic liner, I figured one could puncture the plastic to restrict the flow, Is this necessary or not needed? I never "transport my bottle I just leave it in my cupboard. BUT do you need the plastic for anything other than transporting?

Re: kikkoman soy sauce in a dispenser

Hi Marc David
The kikkoman dispenser is a design classic for good reason (designed by Kenji Ekuan in 1961 - so 50 years old this year!). It does what it is supposed to beautifully.
I guess you could puncture the plastic but I honestly find there is no need. The pourer gives a clean, easy to manage flow.

I don't think the plastic cover is needed for anything except as a back up stopper.
