Hello everyone!
I've just joined, but i have been on this site quite a few times now browsing through the recipes and always meant to join but must have been sidetracked by the thought of food everytime, until now! So just a quick hello, i am quite a beginner when it comes to bento and havent exactly got award winning presentation skills as of yet but have tried some really great recipes out so far.
I'm at university studying dance so i need lots of energy, if anyone has any bento tips to help me out they are very much appreciated!

Hey, where are you studying dance??

I'm studying dance at... I think you brits call it uni, I'm a bit confused about it as I'm from Iceland and our system is different, but I'm studying dance now in london, and am loving it! :P

I've been trying to get into bentoing ever since starting there as, as you said, one needs lots of energy to dance all day! :P

Hey, i'm at Teesside University, its quite near Newcastle, its a brand new course and its so much fun.

Where in London are you studying? How are you finding it living in such a busy place? I always find London so crazy when i visit, fun though! I suppose its a different view if you live there :)

Re: I actually joined this time...

I'm studying at Laban, which is in south London, in deptford, and am enjoying it so much! London is a bit crazy though, tube's horrible usually when I go home, but it is quite nice to be able to hop on the tube a few stops and I'm in central London :D I'm quite excited to go back and am going to try to get bentoing, as i've been spending a fortune on food, I eat so much more when I'm bouncing around all day! :P I manage a few times last year to do it, but I have to get up so early, that I often skipped it and just bought something, which more often than not was crap.

How do you deal with it? I'm always munching on something between classes, maybe an apple or something :P

Re: I actually joined this time...

ah yeah laban i have been there on a trip once, did such a nice contemporary class there, i bet its hard work, you must be such a good dancer! What year of your course are you in?

It is quite tough to keep it going, the best way to stick at it i find is to create a routine, either make your meals the night before and start with easy stuff so it doesnt take long, or make it part of your morning routine. I know what you mean about ending up eating crap, thats why i started making my own lunch to take, otherwise you end up spending all your money on junk.

Re: I actually joined this time...

Thank you, I just finished my first year on the BA course, can't wait to go back, though yeah it's hard work. By the end of each term, I've been exhausted :P but it's worth it.

So yeah, I'm aiming to try and get most of my stuff ready the night before. I'm also planning to stock my freezer with loads of stash, gyoza's, rice, onigiri, etc. hopefully that will help me :P

So how far are you into your course?

Re: I actually joined this time...

Same, i've just finished my first year, i'm itching to get back at it though i've really enjoyed it. I'm the kind of person who likes to be constantly busy so its pretty annoying having all this free time!

Yeah if you stock your freezer like you say it's going to make it so much easier for when your feeling lazy or don't have much time. You will have to stay in touch and let me know how you get on with your bento's and course! :)
