Hey there, Im Lauri from Long Island, NY.
I got into Bnto making when I was (mis)Diagnosed with Celiac disease and needed to be on a Gluten free diet for two years. Now (no longer, never was celiac) I still make bento lunches for my husband and I because spending over $20 for us to eat lunch out is just not in the Budget. My Bentos are usually food shoved in a bento box, and not exciting. But im hoping to work on that. Im a housewife and Full time student studying Japanese and Linguistics. I hope to move to Japan one day, love Knitting and Hello Kitty!!

How about you?

Re: Hello There!

Hi, Lauri!
You're a knitter, too? I don't suppose you're on Ravelry? :)

I make lunches from leftovers that sound about the same as yours ("food shoved in a bento box"). I'm looking for inspiration and motivation, too.

Less than a week to wait...

Ravelry Re: Hello There!

Ravelry is a website for knitters and crocheters. It is an amazingly addictive site.

celiac misdiagnosis -> bento

Hi Lauri. Interesting that you started making bento because of a celiac misdiagnosis. I seem to hear that a lot. Cooking Cute's owner says she started making bentos because her husband was misdiagnosed also her About page. I wonder how common this is?

(And, I haven't been saying hi back to all the Hi posts because they've already been so many, but...

HI EVERYONE!!! Glad to see you all here! :)

Re: Hello There!

Hi,

I'm exited about making my first ever bento box! and pleased to see some knitters here as well. I've never heard of ravelry either, going to have a look now...

Re: Hello There!

Hello -- I'm a lapsed knitter (too busy with FT work and PT grad school/TAing), but I'm with you on the "food shoved into a box" thing. I'm hoping to make more attractive bentos during the challenge.

Good luck!
