I pack myself a bento on the days when I'm taking the kids into town and staying at university (where I am no longer a student, but I just can't be bothered driving home when I know I'll need to drive back in a few hours). I just hang out in the student lounge at the Catholic chaplaincy, and find if I have a bento lunch I usually have to eat it before eleven because I just can, and it's so delicous, sitting there tempting me with it's smiley Kitty face. Then I'm hungry by 3, because I ate too soon.
I'm guessing this problem will resolve when I have a job and can't eat whenever I feel like. Should I put less yummy food in my bento? Or make two?

I usually start feeling hungry at about 11.45. That's when I go for my walk, which makes me postpone lunch for another hour or so. And if I had already eaten it before I went, I'd want to buy a pie, or a bread roll or something because the smell in the supermarket would make me hungry again. My scheme works well for me, don't know if it would for you. Also, I'm trying to lose a bit of weight, so I have motivation to postpone eating.

I usually eat pretty early. I eat breakfast around 6:30 am, so I pack small preportioned snacks to have with my morning coffee/tea once I am at the office. This usually helps to keep me from getting too hungry until sometime around 11:30, but I try to hold off on having my lunch until 12 or later. And when I get hungry I distract myself much like bronwyncarlisle, I drink some water and try to find something to read or do at work so I kind of forget that I am hungry already.
I take my bento to uni, so there is no time until the breaks between the first and the second lessons of the day. And that's usually shortly before 12 and until I have found a nice place to eat my bento it is almost 12 and time to eat. And if I get hungry before it is time to eat, I drink something or try to concentrate on what is going on in front of me
Our school lunch time starts quite late (1:30), so if I have a free I eat lunch during lesson 4. I usually have the smaller compartment for break. I have a small apatite but I have a tendency to get lowish blood sugar if I go more than 2 to 3 hours without eating.
