Has anyone tried to cook brown rice and adzuki beans together in a rice cooker? I think they have a similar cooking time, although maybe it would be necessary to presoak the beans... I have already successfully cooked brown rice and lentils together in my rice cooker, using the brown rice setting and adding just a little bit more water than I would have for just brown rice. This is a very easy vegetarian (and vegan) one pot meal, and you can add whatever seasonings you want to the water to vary the flavor. However, now I am interested in trying with other legumes, so any suggestion would be very much welcome!

Sorry, I'm not a great azuki bean fan so I haven't yet got around to trying this.

How about kuri gohan? Here are instructions for making it in a rice cooker with brown rice (I usually make it with a combination of standard white rice and glutinous rice and boil the chestnuts rather than roast them.)

Chestnuts are not legumes but you've probably already considered most true legumes. Gingko/ginnan nuts are nice but are expensive and hard to get hold of. How about pine nuts? I've had a delicious okayu made with brown rice and pine nuts.

Azuki beans have a much longer cooking time than brown rice, so you'd need to at least parboil them to a firm yet not totally done stage if you want to cook them together with the brown rice.
